Facing Fears

How do you face your fears when your two most dominant fears are the fear of success and the fear of disapproval from your friends?

Stop fearing them and trust in God. It's not like you have to be systematically densensitized on every fear in order to get rid of it. Facing your fears doesn't always have to mean that you need to get a lot of what you fear in order to get over it.

What are some of the motivations behind these fears?
The fear of success - that you will become to proud?
The fear of disapproval - the classic I'm seeking love from my friends when I should be seeking it from God.

I'll pray that God will show you what He can change in your heart in order for you to overcome these fears.

I don't know that they are "motivated." I just know that I fear success. It's like being afraid of riding your bike, swimming or the like. I'd like to do it -- it seems fun! On the other hand, I don't like many of the things that go along with success such as public recognition, higher expectations from people around you, the suddenness that usually accompanies (or comes at the end of) the hard work you have to put in to be successful...

I've always performed at average because I fear success too much to over achieve and fear failure too much to let myself fail.

It's sad. I need to end it.
