My Date with Drew

Tonight Joy and I watched My Date with Drew. I liked the movie a lot.

I went to the site tonight to read more about it and found out that they originally had roughly 85 hours of film, which they cut down to 5 hours of interesting, watchable material. The finished products is between 90 and 100 minutes long, and I still felt like some of the movie could have been cut out.

This doesn't mean that I didn't like the movie. It was fun, and it had a lot of appeal. I liked the end the best and was totally excited for the guy when things worked out well. I really want to recommend the movie to Jenn, because of all the people I know I feel like she'd like it the most.

I couldn't tell whether Joy liked it or not. She was fairly tired the whole night and seemed to like the beginning a lot. However, she was really frustrated with Brian, the main guy, because he was such a loser in Joy's eyes and didn't really have his act together. She couldn't understand how this guy could expect to get a date with Drew (or any girl for that matter) with some of the life management issues he had. That's Joy for ya though. Certain details throw her off when she watches movies, and she still doesn't know enough about girls to realize that some girls don't need a guy to have his stuff together to be interestedin the guy.

Ok, so once you mentioned that perhaps I would be fond of this movie, I had to further investigate (I would go rent it, but considering we are a Hollywood video family and there is a baby coming today, I'll wait for a more opportune time)....

Anyways, so I think you are dead right that I would enjoy this movie...I mean, to begin with, you are talking to a pretty strong Drew fan in general, so that alone would motivate me. Moreover, I love the determination and "fantastical" nature of the project...who wouldn't want to meet/ date those "untouchable" stars we find ourselves attracted to.

Your mention of Joy's movie tastes reminds me of a personal goal...to have that girl gain some appreciation for movies that are beyond the "realistic" frame she accepts...There has got to be some creative well ready to spring up from her, even it's a very very very deep water source :-)

Question to ponder? If you could meet (let's rule out dating for the married man over there) any "famous" person...let's stick with hollywood here for the sake of not getting to bogged down in the real world...if you could meet any hollywood star, who? (I have several, but I'll wait to see if you respond first before I reveal mine)

That's easy. Angelina Jolie! How cool would it be to meet (or date) her.

I am going to need more time to think of your question. There are dozens of people in Hollywood that I'd like to meet. I am going to have to narrow down the playing field quite a bit before I can come up with a 'just one' answer.

Yea...so Angelina would be on my list too..no doubt (and you could throw Brad into the mix and make things even more interesting :-)...right now i'm undergoing an "idina menzel" fascination (broadway actress...AMAZING voice...married to Taye Diggs...basically I want to be her)...I'd be down with Orlando Bloom and perhaps Luke Wilson...I always wanted to meet Britney, but she's busy with a baby right now...and Shania always intrigued me...all of the dixie chicks would be pretty fun I think, especially Natalie...i'll keep thinking about this one and come back to add
